November 12th Summary

The Atlantic- The Only Man who can stop mass incarceration is Obama– IMO: this article is hyperbolic in it’s dismissal of state advances, and almost the first 50% of the article is background that offers very little in the way of new information. But- it does start an interesting dialogue about what the president could be doing to support movements in support of corrections reform, which seems to have been somewhat neglected from his agenda.

Abolitionist Law Center-  Lawsuit seeks to invalidate outgoing governors censorship statue– A lawsuit challenging a Pennsylvania censorship law intended to silence Mumia Abu-Jamal and others convicted of personal injury crimes was filed November 10th. Death-penalty bill would protect identities and licenses of physicians and drug manufacturers

Vox- alternatives to prison– quick, policy brief style on alternatives to incarceration, quite curious to learn more about restorative justice myself.
