Rethinking Prisons

Here’s a 2013 report by two researchers (Yale and NYU) about the condition of mentally ill in New York City prisons, particularly in solitary.  The report was commissioned by the New York City Board of Corrections to determine whether the city was in compliance with minimum standards for mental health.  The short answer is, it’s not.  Required reading.  Thanks to Connie Martin for sharing this with me.
